Answer: A food’s glycaemic load is determined by multiplying its glycaemic index by the amount of carbohydrate the food contains in each serve and dividing by 100. This is perhaps more important to know than simply the GI alone of a food because it relates to how much of that particular food is going to be consumed. For example, a food with a very high GI consumed in very small quantities may not be as bad as consuming a food with a moderate GI in large quantities.
