There are a growing number of our members who are performing supplementary training sessions (both in the gym and at home). While we give credit to the members who are motivated enough to do additional work, it is our observation that the extra training is quite often poorly structured, lacks accountability, focusses too much on strengths rather than weaknesses and can quickly lead to being overtrained. It is for this reason that we have decided to offer individualised programming in order to ensure these athletes get the most value out of their extra time rather than fumbling through their training and letting luck determine the outcome.
Who is it for: This type of programming has obvious applications to athletes who wish to compete in CrossFit but because the programs are totally individual they can be written to suit any goal – big or small.
If you have a specific area or areas that you would like to address more frequently than they appear in the daily WOD and have the extra time to invest, then you can benefit from individualised supplementary training.
How does it work: The programs are designed to work in conjunction with the WOD – not as a replacement. The WOD should be seen as the priority workout and the additional training provided will add elements that we may see as a low priority for the general population (HSPU, Muscle-ups etc.) or that you may need to address more frequently due to your strengths, weaknesses and goals.
The process will start with you filling out a questionnaire and a quick consultation. Once we have gathered the necessary information we will write you a quote and once given the go-ahead will write you a program that is suitable to your gaols, the amount of extra time you are prepared to invest, your access to equipment and the timeframe in which you would like to achieve these changes.
How much does this cost: Because each program will be different it is impossible to quote a generic rate for this service. A basic option would consist of simply providing and explaining the program and leaving in the individual to follow it through, whereas a more detailed program could consist of program preparation, explanation, weekly/monthly review of progress, review of video footage, competition preparation, help with consistency and accountability, one on one sessions etc. It really is relative to the individual.
Please don’t assume that this is a premium service and is out of your budget – if you are interested, don’t hesitate to ask us for a quote. We are confident that we can provide a program that will suit almost any budget.
